Shop for Teeny Greenies

You can now support Teeny Greenies by shopping! We have a new way for you to do some diaper shopping and support TG at the same time.

From time to time Teeny Greenies gets donations of items that we do not distribute in our diaper bags or extra items that we can't put to immediate use. What do we do with these? We sell them to raise money to buy items that are urgently needed. Sweet Pickles (www.mysweetpickles.com) has offered to consign these items for us, free of charge. So check out the "gently used" section of their store to find some lovely wool and other items to purchase - with all the proceeds going to Teeny Greenies.

Strib Interview and New Business Partner

I just got off the phone with Sara Moran, a freelance health writer for the Minneapolis Star-Tribune newspaper. She was doing an article on the cloth diapering trend and I was happy to help. Twin Cities folks can check out that article in the Variety section of the Strib on April 6th, everyone else should be able to find it online at www.startribune.com on or after the 6th.

In other good news, Baby Belle's Favorites (babybelle.etsy.com) has joined us as a business partner! Nikki makes many items but her shining star is the KCK One one-size diaper - an easy and attractive one-size diaper that doesn't rely on snapping-down to size it. As always, you can also find a link to her store on our website.

New Business Partners

I just wanted to let you all know about some of our newest business partners - Baby Bayrs, Motherhood Naturally Publications, and The Elimonster.

Baby Bayrs claim to fame is a great training pant that is mostly waterproof (similar to Imse Vimse) but also makes other great children's products. Her seamstress skills don't stop there - if you have ever attended one of my cloth diaper classes, the cute diaper fabric swatch book I carry around to show all the fabrics was custom made by her for me.

As for The Elimonster, her diapers come in just gorgeous prints and she has snazzy longies and tees as well. Bonus for Twin Cities mamas - she's local!

Motherhood Naturally Publications is slightly different from our usual business partners in that they don't sell diapers. They do, however, have a great selection of cloth diapering publications - prefold handouts, a cloth diapering handbook, cloth diaper 101 class curriculum, and more. They also carry books and publications on other natural motherhood topics.

A big thank you to these businesses! If you are in the market for new diapers, please consider these ladies. You can find them at theelimonster.etsy.com, babybayrs.etsy.com, and www.motherhoodnaturally.com/store.

Look at the comments that have already been left and add 1 to the last entry number posted. If you are the first person to enter, your entry number is 1. Rogers M.O.M.S. Club Meeting, March 16th

The Rogers (MN) M.O.M.S. Club has invited me to give a 10 minute presentation at their March 16th meeting. The topic of the day will be green living. They are planning on showing a video, hearing from me, and having another speaker who will talk about green cleaning products. The meeting is from 9:30am - 11:30am at the Word of Peace Lutheran Church and is open to current or prospective members of the Rogers M.O.M.S. Club. Contact the Rogers chapter for more info on the meeting (www.geocities.com/rogersmoms).

Never heard of M.O.M.S. Club? It is an international moms organization that has chapters almost EVERYWHERE. M.O.M.S. stands for Moms Offering Moms Support and is geared towards helping stay-at-home moms build a community of mothers in their local area. You can find out more and find your local chapter at www.momsclub.org.

Parenting Oasis Class

Tuesday I taught a class at the Parenting Oasis (www.parentingoasis.com) called "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Cloth Diapering". It went very well I think. I got to chat with alot of mamas, and also got alot of donations for TG.

If you would be interested in having someone teach your group more about cloth diapering, let me know, i'm happy to help. I can provide anything from a 5-10 minute quick presentation to a full-fledged class to setting up an informational table at your diaper swap - all free of charge.

If you don't have an organization, but just want to know more about cloth diapering, I am happy to provide support by email. If you want the in-person experience to touch and feel diapers I am more than happy to make an appointment with you to come to my house and get a personalized "lesson" in cloth diapering.
Welcome! I have so much to share, but I didn't want to clutter the Teeny Greenies website (www.teenygreenies.org) with all my musings and news, thus this blog was born.

As things start to look really good for Teeny Greenies cloth diaper lending, I am starting to just ponder the future of Teeny Greenies, and where we'll go as we get some steam behind us. I love lending cloth diapers and I want to build that into a strong, self-sustaining organization, but I don't think i'll be happy stopping there. At the cloth diaper class I taught on Tuesday someone asked me if I knew anyone or anywhere that would lend slings. The funny thing was, I was just thinking about possibly expanding Teeny Greenies to include slings and carriers. It was a sign I think. So I decided that I needed to have a big, pie-in-the-sky goal, a direction to travel as things progress with Teeny Greenies. Here is what I came up with - I would like to someday have Teeny Greenies grow into a Holistic Family Lending Library. We would lend not only cloth diapers, but also slings, simple and natural toys, homeschooling supplies, and of course books and movies on related topics. Things that are morally, developmentally, and/or ecologically positive. I would also like this lending library to have a space for holding classes, swaps, playgroups, whatever. So, we are far far away from that goal, and that's fine, but I feel better and more purposeful with a larger goal to aim at.
